I am a gardener! Up until a few months ago, I didn’t care for gardening at all. Somehow, I got it in my head to grow my own veggies. I even made my own pallet garden beds!!! More on that later. I wanted to blog about g-g-germinating today!
I germinated the seeds in paper towels and transplanted them into toilet paper rolls and pellets. As you can see above, the pellets did WAY better!
The paper towel method was easy. Dampen a towel, scatter the seeds, wrap it up in plastic and wait for the seeds to bud.
To make toilet paper roll containers, cut the rolls in half, cut slits up the roll, and fold the cut sections in. Then fill up the rolls with soil and plant your germinated seeds.
For pellets, pour water, watch them grow and plant your germinated seeds…
I planted peas, carrots, lettuce, broccoli, oregano, basil, parsley, and cilantro. I treated both containers the same- same water and sun exposure. But sadly, the rolls began to mold.
I planted all my herbs and some broccoli into those rolls. None of the herbs grew (R.I.P) and the broccoli didn’t grow as full or as green as the broccoli in the pellets! Next year, pellets all the way. So then, I needed a place to plant my thriving veggies. Stay tuned for my pallet garden bed project!!
Any gardeners out there? What are your summer projects?
